New General Council of the Order Elected!
Rome, September 6. Three days ago, September 3, the General Chapter elected the General Minister of the Order in the person of Br. Roberto Genuin. According to the schedule, today was the day to elect his Council, made up of representatives of the various geographical areas. As our Constitutions state, “the responsibility of the councilors is to assist the general minister in the governance of the whole order.” (125, 7)

The 85th General Chapter of the Friars Minor Capuchin is an assembly of 188 friars from all over the world. The great number of languages makes the Chapter a rich experience of different cultures, countries, and continents.
The Capitulars work on the Formation Plan!
Rome, September 5. On the General Chapter schedule for September 4 and 5 is reflection and discussion of the Ratio formationis, the general formation plan meant to guide the formation of friars.

Rome, September 3. That was the day scheduled for the election of the General Minister, and so it happened, as reported yesterday. Br. Roberto Genuin was elected the new General Minister. Yesterday evening, the capitulars gathered in the Collegio church for the Eucharist, which happened to be the memorial of Pope St. Gregory the Great.
