A world of initials
Rome, August 30. The Capuchin General Chapter, having reached its fourth day, began today to discuss the report of the outgoing General Minister, Br. Mauro Jöhri, as well as the economic report given by the General Bursar, Br. Alejandro Nuñes Ennabe. Interventions could be given by individuals or by a coetus.
The Chapter is Finished
Rome, September 15. The work of the Chapter concluded during the evening of this day dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. This was ahead of schedule – the Chapter was to conclude on September 16 – thanks to the quickness with which this Chapter has worked, and thanks above all to the use of the tablets for voting in the plenary assembly.
Meeting Pope Francis
Rome, September 14. Each Capuchin General Chapter has two appointments of fundamental importance: the first, in Assisi, at the tomb of the Seraphic Father St. Francis, which is a sort of return to the sources of our own story, and which in this Chapter was made on September 8. The second is to meet the Pope, of whom Francis himself had requested approval of his form of life.
The General Chapter Begins to Conclude
Rome, September 13. The Chapter is moving towards its final moments. Yesterday, September 12, the friars gathered after lunch in the Collegio garden for the group photo. They were also joined for lunch by the American Capuchin Cardinal, Br. Seán Patrick O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, who, after participating in the meeting of the Council of Cardinals at the Vatican, wished to greet the brother capitulars.
